On June 25, 2021 President Lorne Braithwaite from The Rotary Club of Saskatoon Nutana and Diane Boyko, Executive Board Chair from Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, signed a MOU. The MOU sets out a new partnership between St. Frances Cree Bilingual School and the club for a 5 year term and a commitment of $100,000 dispersed over those 5 years. This collaboration will explore ways the partners may work together to create unique programs or program spaces within the new St. Frances Cree Bilingual School to support the processes of reconciliation, language and cultural revitalization, and community collaboration. The project components will focus on dramatic arts, music and performance and production technologies. The Arts fosters students' imagination, creativity and problem solving, enhancing students' ability to innovate and collaborate.
A beautiful program was prepared with Elder, Shirley Arcand doing the prayer and Elmer Tootoosis drumming while Candace and Adam Merasty danced. A beautiful gift of a handmade blanket was presented to the club acknowledging this new collaboration.
