In Kalbeo, a community in the Upper East Region of Ghana, people do not have easy access to potable water. Women and children have to walk long distances to access it and the lack of toilets contributes to problems with sanitation. This results in a number of water borne diseases . One of our members, Hannah Enti Brown brought this to our attention and in August 2024, the Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon Nutana, Bolgatanga and Novi Michigan joined forces with residents of Kalbeo to help them achieve their dream by constructing a borehole, several collection points and 80 microflush toilets.
We are pleased to announce that construction of the borehole and toilets has begun and things are well underway.
Our thanks to the Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon, Meewasin and North Clubs for their support as well as to the various Rotary Districts and Rotary International who helped in raising the initial funds.
We are in close contact with our Rotarian partners in Ghana and will keep everyone updated. If you would like to watch our video on the general situation please follow the link below.
