The first year 10 members joined and 10 members also resigned.
1962
Visit of RI President Nitish Laharry from India.
1963
Pen sales fundraiser - 500 pens sold.
1964
Evening at the Sheraton Cavalier in honour of seven senioritas visiting our club from
District 491 in Argentina.
1965
Visit of RI President C.P.H. Teenstra and Mrs. Teenstra.
1966
Re: Goodwill Meeting in Winnipeg - two railway cars are reserved for this trip to
Winnipeg.
Notice in Rotana: December 8th - Annual Christmas Party - Rotary members, their
children under 20 years of age are welcome, but Rotary Anns are not.
1968
First Citizenship Court conducted by a service club in Saskatoon.
1969
Establishment of Service Club Council by Saskatoon Board of Trade.
Annual Auction Sale netted only $305.
Walkathon at Exhibition Grounds - objective to raise $100,000.
1970
Walkathon 1968 netted $57,500. In 1969 it was $16,000.
1972
Bill Bunn skated 59 laps in Kinsmen Skate-a-Rama.
1976
Barbara Armstrong spoke about her Australian experience “Rotary, the Opportunity
- Australia, the Experience”.
1977
Lloyd Robertson was guest speaker at Nutana.

District Governor Ed Hegel makes his official club visit.

Family picnic at Smith Farm.
Ed Rodgers, caterer, announced the closing of Harvey's Cumberland House effective
June 30, 1982.

Interclub meeting with Prince Albert and Watrous Rotary Clubs.
Exhibition Parking Saskatoon Nutana $8,500.
1983
Family dinner netted $1,096.
$3,300 for furnishing the dining room at Interval House.
1984
$800 profit from the family dinner.
$2,000 raised in 'Keep Saskatoon Beautiful" campaign.
Bill Sinnet deserves the appreciation of the club for mounting and preparing new displays
of club banners.
1986

Montego Bay, Jamaica School Assistance Program organized by Montego Bay Rotary.
Dinner Theatre - Amadeus at Persephone Theatre.
1991
An Argentina Evening hosted by exchange student, Florencia Saliva, at Marquis Hall,

1993
Rotary Friendship Exchange Team from Iceland.

Past Presidents' Meeting and Social at Ed Pek’s home.
1995
Fred MacKinnon recognized as an original member of the Saskatoon Symphony formed
in 1931.
Michiko Igarachi, Rotary Foundation Scholar from Japan and hosted by our club with Jim
Blackburn as her counsellor, gave her farewell address to the club.
1998
Second edition of Firesides.
Chokecherry Wine permits club to donate $4,000 to the Sherbrooke Community Centre.
1999
Proceeds of $9,845 from exhibition parking.
2000
Club earned $4,300 from program sales at Briar 2000.
Gabriela Mora, exchange student from Venezuela gave her farewell talk to the club. Her
mother was present to hear her state, “Thanks for the best year of my life."
Introduced email distribution of the Rotana.
Parking project at Prairieland Exhibition comes to an end.
2001
City approves new plan for Rotary Peace Plaza.
Club establishes scholarship program for Joe Duqette High School (later renamed
Oskayak). This is funded by our weekly 50/50 draw.
Celebrated Club's 40th anniversary on June 16.
WCS project for a water supply system in Mozambique, total cost $24,000.
“Visit the Workplace” at Mount Royal Collegiate established. (Members undertook to
drive students to their work place assignments.)
2002
Re-dedication of Rotary Peace Plaza.
Thirty boxes of medical books donated to the Latvian Medical Academy in Riga.
Rotana wins best club newsletter award for 2001/02.
Ukraine project – used medical equipment was collected and sent to Lviv Public
Municipal Hospital.
2003
First club curling challenge (Reisach vs Fisher).
2004
First annual Duck Derby.
San Miguel d'Allende project (Club supplied materials and equipment for a home which
supports elderly street folk).
“Individual Development Accounts” established to assist young people to remain or return
to school (a five club Rotary Centennial project).
2005
Our club spearheaded a Five Club RI Centennial Gala celebration at TCU Place.
David Kaplan – Saskatoon Citizen of the Year.
Program to sell Safeway and Co-op gift cards established.
John Ralston Saul speaks at the Club on June 7.
2006
First annual Rotary Dragon Boat Festival.
2008
Renovation of school in Belize.
Club donates appliances to Egadz halfway house.
2009
Club agrees to participate in Restorative Action Program (designed to help at risk
students to remain in school).
Expansion to school in Belize.
2010
First Nobel Peace Laureate program at Rotary Peace Plaza (honors Lester B. Pearson
and Mother Theresa).
2011
Club commits $100,000 over five years to build a school in Haiti.
